Cruise cabin or floating homestay: two ways to stay on Lan Ha Bay

Know where you will sleep before comparing an overnight cruise with Explorer or a floating-village itinerary.

Lan Ha Floating Homestay accommodation on the water

By LAN HA OVERNIGHT CRUISE · Planning guide

Overnight describes the duration, not the accommodation

A night on Lan Ha Bay can mean a cabin on a cruise vessel or a room at a floating homestay reached by boat. Both involve time on the water, but the place you sleep and the way you move through the itinerary are different.

Quiet Bay lists an en-suite cabin on its cruise vessel. Lan Ha Bay Explorer lists an over-water room at Lan Ha Floating Homestay, and the 3-Day Floating Village Expedition lists two nights of floating-homestay accommodation. Check this distinction before comparing photographs or package names.

Follow the daily movement

A cruise programme connects cabin time, meals and excursions around the vessel’s route. The Explorer listing uses a floating-homestay stay and private tender boats on both days. The floating-village expedition also combines its accommodation with activities and boat transfers.

Read each day’s meeting points and transfers. Ask where luggage stays during activities, how boarding works and whether the accommodation layout suits your group. A homestay room should not be described as a cruise cabin.

Compare inclusions product by product

The current Explorer catalogue lists a shared Hanoi–Cat Ba return bus as part of that particular package. Quiet Bay lists Hanoi–Cat Ba transport in its exclusions. This is a concrete reason to compare the individual inclusion lists rather than applying one assumption to every overnight trip.

Check meals, guided activities, local transfers, room occupancy and any separate extras for the exact service. Ask for the details to be restated in the quote if your arrival plans differ from the listed programme.

Choose the format you want

Choose by the kind of stay you are looking for: an onboard cabin and cruise programme, or a floating-homestay base with excursions. Share your party size, children’s ages and any access or dietary requirements so the operator can check suitability.

The written confirmation should name the service, accommodation and transfer arrangements you selected. Availability and the final itinerary must be checked for your date.

Before you confirm

This guide draws on the listed services and booking policies. Your selected operator’s availability, itinerary, inclusions and final quote are confirmed for your travel date.
